Apple Clips Review – Spoiler Alert, Its Awesome

Almost every video editing tool available on the iOS is complicated, difficult to learn, and an annoyance to use. Realizing how huge of a problem this was, Apple decided to create its very own video editor called Apple Clips, and has released it for all of its users for free. After using it extensively, I have only one thing to say – it’s awesome. It’s fast, smooth, easy to use, and videos can be shared instantly on any of the social networking platforms. The ability to fine tune or change audio is a great addition as it allows users to have fun with their videos.

How is it Different?

Well, first of all, it’s available for free. Secondly, it offers the easiest video creation that I’ve seen in a very long time. Developers these days try to add a ton of features, and in this process, they clutter their menus hence ruining the experience for the users. Fortunately, Apple didn’t do any of that, it made the user interface incredibly simple to understand and use. In the beginning, you will be at a loss as to what’s going on, but with everything you need put right in front, the whole video creation process becomes a whole lot easier. This is what separates Apple Clips from other video creating and editing tools. If you are an Apple user who likes to mess around with the videos, then you owe it to yourself to check it out.

How it Works?

First, you will have to create a video of any sort. You can pre-choose some of the settings like filters or emojis, but real fun begins after you have completed the video. The video you have created is then at your disposal and you can add a ton of stuff to it. There are several filters that give unique feel to the videos, there are captions to add emotion into the video, and then there are audio options. You can add any and all kind of audio files to your videos to make them even more fun to watch. The best part is that all of it can be done on one screen, which helps a lot.

What are its Shortcomings?

The biggest shortcoming Apple Clips has it is its square-only videos. There is nothing you can do to change that – you have to live with the square style of videos, which is annoying. Audio options, as good as they are, feel quite limited. You aren’t given a lot of options to work with and that’s kind of disappointing.  Also, as mentioned above, not a lot can be done in the video while it’s being created. All the captions and audio files that you might want to add has to happen once the video has successfully been created. You will get used to it soon, but the options to add stuff during the making of the video would’ve been a great feature.

Apple Clips is easily one of the best video editing tools available in the market right now. Yes, it has its problems, but they don’t affect user experience in any way. You will still be able to get everything you want from it and that too for free.
