Apple Testing Voicemail Transcription Service Using Siri

The Cupertino-based company is expected to roll out the service next year.

Apple employees are reportedly testing out a new service, iCloud Voicemail, which would allow Siri to transcribe voicemails into text messages and deliver them to users’ inbox. There will be no need to listen to the voicemails anymore.

Not only this, the virtual assistant will also receive your calls, informing callers about your current location, and why you are unable to attend the call at the moment, i.e. if you permit it to do so of course. You will be able to record custom answers for your calls.

Siri received updates last year, as a result of which 40% of word errors in her were reduced to 5%, making her smarter. It is all set for another big upgrade that will come with the upcoming iOS 9.

It is still unknown if the company will require the assistance of carriers for providing iCloud Voicemail service or not. Also, there is no word on whether this service will be free or not.
