In an effort to keep up with the growing competition, Facebook has acquired Msqrd, a well-known selfie animation app that lets Android and iOS users swap faces to the videos and selfie using its wide range of filters and masks featuring celebrities, animals and much more.
Masquerade, the company behind the app, has also confirmed the acquisition via an official blog post.
While both the companies have not yet disclosed the terms of the deal, Facebook has announced that three of the key members of the acquired company will be carry out their duties from the social giant’s London office.
Facebook is not the first one to acquire video selfie animation technology. Snapchat purchased a similar app named Looksery last September.
