Snapchat is one of the revolutionary social media apps to have been developed. No matter how far Facebook takes Instagram or WhatsApp stories, nothing can be like Snapchat’s story sharing feature.
With abundant of interest filters and features, this app is winning hearts all over the world. The feature we will be talking about in this post is the one that lets you find out where your friends are.
Yes! You heard that right. You may not know that Snapchat also allows you to check where your friends are. This feature enables you to see your friend’s location on the Snap Map. The same applies to you as well. Your location is also visible to your friends on the Snap Map unless you disable it.
Using your smartphone’s GPS, the Snap Map constantly updates your location on the app per se. Even though this feature is not new to the app, still it remains unknown for most of the users. Snapchat also allows you to share your location with select contacts.
Let’s get to know how you can check someone’s location on the app and how you can turn off this feature in case you find it too indiscreet.
Find Out Your Friends’ Locations on Snapchat
Using the location feature on Snapchat is really easy. Here’s how you can use it to see your friends’ locations:
Step 1: First of all, open your Snapchat app
Step 2: Once the Snap screen is opened in front of you, pinch your fingers in such a way like you’re zooming out on the camera so that the Snap Map is opened.
Step 3: Now the Snap Map will open in front of you, showing you the map of the world. It will also show your friends’ Bitmojis on locations wherever your friends are. However, you must keep in mind that you won’t be able to see your friends’ locations if they have set up a location privacy on the app.
Snapchat also lets you set privacy on your location if you do not wish to share your location with your contacts or only want to share it with few of your contacts. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Open your Snapchat app
Step 2: Once again, open the Snap Map by pinching your fingers on the Snap screen just like you would zoom out a picture.
Step 3: A screen will appear in front of you with the heading, ‘Find Your Friends’.
Step 4: Here you can set up privacy by choosing who can see your location on Snapchat. If you want to go completely invisible on the Snap Map and do not want anyone to find you, then you can select the ‘Ghost Mode.’ You would still be able to see yourself but there would be a Ghost icon next to your Bitmoji. Nobody will be able to see your location on Snapchat once you’re turned on the Ghost Mode.
Step 5: In case you want your friends to see your location on Snapchat, then you can choose the option ‘My Friends.’
Step 6: There’s also a third option, allowing you to show your location to select friends. You can choose ‘Select Friends’ if you want only a few people to see your location on Snapchat. By selecting this option, your Snapchat contacts will be opened and you will only need to select the ones you wish to share your location with on the app.
