Google Self-Driving Car Program gets New CEO

Google Appoints New CEO for Self-Driving Cars Program

With experience under his belt, he will surely prove to be a huge asset to the tech giant.

Google’s self-driving cars haven’t been in news as of late, but it seems that it’s about to change as a new CEO for the self-driving car program has been hired. The new executive is John Krafcik, who has previously worked with some major brands like Ford and Hyundai.

He is a well-known individual and has gained a lot of respect from other auto companies for his work. His relationship with other companies will certainly come in handy as Google tries to bring self-driving cars to general public.

After being appointed head of Google’s self-driving car program, Krafcik sent an email to automotive news in which he writes:

“This is a great opportunity to help Google develop the enormous potential of self-driving cars, This technology can save thousands of lives, give millions of people greater mobility, and free us from a lot of the things we find frustrating about driving today. I can’t wait to get started.”

Google’s self-driving cars program has been in works for almost six years now, but it seems that a lot of work still needs to be done as the tech giant states that the project will finish by 2020.
