How to find the IMEI number of your mobile phone?

The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 17 or 15 digit code used to identify an individual mobile station to a GSM or UMTS network. Using these number can be used to identify a mobile phone uniquely from a mobile network. Using these number we can prevent making calls from stolen mobile phones and thus avoiding problems. A mobile handset can only have at most one unique IMEI number. They cannot be changed by changing sim cards. It means that even if the thief changes the sim card inorder to use the handset, he/she can’t do that. In short swapping sim cards cannot change IMEI number.

  1.  Just dial *#06# in your handset with any sim in it. It will display a number. Note it down somewhere safely and you’re done. 🙂
