Android 6.0 Marshmallow has brought some awesome new features to the table and it is only natural to want to try it out. A large number of people have already moved on to the latest OS and a whole lot more are waiting to join in as soon as it’s rolled out to their device. However, sometimes things don’t go as planned and installation gets stuck or your device shuts down. From the number of users complaining on forums, it’s pretty clear that this problem chooses its victims indiscriminately, which basically means no one is safe. Fortunately for you, we have got a workaround that will allow you to get installation back on track in case you ever run into a problem while updating to Marshmallow.
Phone Hangs or Shuts Down during Installation
If you feel that your smartphone has hanged, then the best course of action is to wait it out. Sometimes, the first boot is happening which can take quite some time. However, if even after all this waiting your phone is still hung up, then you should wipe the system cache through Recovery mode. To remove system cache, just follow the given steps.
- Switch off your device.
- Now press Power and Volume Down button until it takes you to Fastboot menu.
- Navigate via volume buttons to find Recovery, and press Power button to access it.
- Here select Wipe Cache Partition and press Power button to confirm.
- You can reboot your phone and start the installation process once again.
If these steps don’t do the trick for you, then you have got to back up all of your data and restore factory settings in order to resume the installation.
Note: It’s always better to back up your data before updating your device firmware.
