Android phones sure have gotten more powerful over the years, but nobody could have guessed that they’ve already become capable of running the immensely popular first-person shooter Counter Strike 1.6. And we are not talking about a recreation. We are talking about running the actual game on Google’s mobile OS, courtesy of Alibek Omarov, the guy who made it happen. You obviously don’t want to be kept waiting and must be becoming impatient to know how you can jump in on the multiplayer shoot’em up action right away. So without further ado, here are the instructions to run the game on your Android phone.
- Start off by installing the APK on your Android phone. If you’re using a multicore device, install the APK with omp postfix, and if you’re on a device with single core, or are facing problems with omp postfix, then install the APK with noomp.
- Now install the latest version of Xash3D Android on your Android phone from this link.
- Move the cstrike and valve folders from your Steam CS1.6 installation to the xash folder on SDCard.
- You are now set. Run CS16Client and enjoy.
Note: Do not expect the CS1.6 experience to be anywhere close to the one you remember enjoying on PC. Moreover, playing the game with a mouse and keyboard not only reduces the fun factor, but also adds a considerable amount of challenge to the gameplay itself.
