According to US Justice Department, alleged owner of Kickass torrent, Artem Vaulin has been arrested in Poland. Since his arrest, all domains pertaining to the infamous torrent site have been seized as well.
Vaulin has been arrested on the count of two charges, one for criminal copyright infringement and one for committing money laundering.
Assistant general attorney of US Justice Department, Leslie R. Caldwell revealed that Vaulin is also responsible for unlawfully distributing more than $1 billion of material.
“Vaulin is charged with running today’s most visited illegal file-sharing website, responsible for unlawfully distributing well over $1 billion of copyrighted materials.”
Kickass torrent has been escaping the grasps of US Justice Department for a long time and it had created a ton of domains just stay hidden. However, now that its owner is behind bars, it seems pretty likely that the popular torrent site is gone for good.
