Here’s How to Locate Your Lost Android Device [Guide]

You may have faced the predicament arising after losing your Android device at some point in your life. While losing your Android device is a big dilemma per se, there is a way that can help you get it back. In case you’ve lost your Android device, there’s a chance you can get it back by using Android Device Manager.

Android Device Manager

Android Device Manager is a free web application from Google that helps you find the most recent location of your smartphone. Apart from finding the location of your phone, it also provides the functionality to make your phone ring, locks the screen to prevent thieves from accessing the data on your phone and also erases the data from your phone.

You can simply open the URL on your web browser using your computer or mobile phone to find your lost Android device.

The Android Device Manager also works as an Android app for devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and wearable Android devices.

To use the Android Device Manager, you will need to log in to your Google account that is linked to your mobile phone.

Once logged in, you will be asked to accept the terms and conditions to use the service offered by Android Device Manager. The terms and conditions basically state that the location data will be recovered and used by Google.

With the help of Android Device Manager, you can make your mobile phone ring even if it is set in silent or vibrate mode. Follow the steps to make that happen:

Step 1: Click on the Ring icon. A message will appear informing you that your phone will now ring at the highest volume level.

Step 2: Once you click on the Ring button within the window, your phone will start ringing. In fact, the phone will continue to ring for another five minutes unless you do not find your phone. If you find the phone within five minutes, you can press the power button to stop the ringing sound.

This feature can be helpful especially when you’ve lost your phone somewhere in the house and still can’t find it.

Locking the Screen of the Lost Phone

In case you could not be able to locate your lost phone after using the Ring method, then you need to make sure your phone remains secure.

You should put a lock screen on your phone to prevent any person accessing the data on your phone.

Following steps need to be followed immediately:

Step 1: Click on the Lock icon.

Step 2: A new window will pop open in front of your screen, asking you to enter the following details:

–          Password

–          A message

–          An alternate contact telephone number

After providing this information, your phone will not only become secure but it will also help the person, who finds your phone, to return the phone to you by contacting on your number.

A lock screen should always be set on your mobile phone. Do not wait to set the lock screen until your phone is lost.

Step 1: Click on the Erase icon.

Step 2: A message will pop up, informing you that your phone will be reset to factory settings.
