Consumer Reports is a popular platform for reviews. A lot of people go there to see how the new products are holding up. Up to this point, Consumer Report has highly recommended every Macbook Pro to the users, but the latest entry in series has received negative criticism and the platform has advised people to stay away from it.
The reason Consumer Reports couldn’t recommend the latest model is its unusual battery timings. They ran several tests to see how it will bode and the results were rather shocking.
“In a series of three consecutive tests, the 13-inch model with the Touch Bar ran for 16 hours in the first trial, 12.75 hours in the second, and just 3.75 hours in the third. The 13-inch model without the Touch Bar worked for 19.5 hours in one trial but only 4.5 hours in the next. And the numbers for the 15-inch laptop ranged from 18.5 down to 8 hours.”
As you can see, the results were inconsistent, which is something you do not expect from a tech giant like Apple. Usually, their battery timings are top notch and pretty consistent. Even after multiple months of use, battery timings never suffer as much as shown in the posted results.
Macbook Pro users have to expect certain quality and it is pretty clear that the latest model doesn’t deliver on that. Therefore, Consumer Reports along with other review outlets have not recommended it to the users.
