The AI-based assistant will answer your questions and do your bidding, to a certain extent of course.
With other major tech industry players having rolled out their virtual assistant, Facebook wasn’t expected to let the big boys have all the fun. Jumping on the AI assistant bandwagon that seemed long overdue, the social media has released M, an answer to Siri, Cortana and Google Now. We are not sure about the gender of Facebook’s offering, but judging by the trend, we’re betting our money on it being yet another lady.
Making a debut on Messenger, M’s got its sleeves rolled up and is all set to answer your questions, complete your tasks, and generally be useful in whatever way it can. Can’t make up your mind on where you want to go? No problem, let your new virtual assistant take care of it. Too lazy to make travel arrangements? M would gladly do it for you. Life is just about to become more convenient than ever. Too bad it doesn’t come with the ability to pack your bags for you.
In case you’re concerned about M rummaging through your Facebook, rest easy because it’s doing nothing of the sort. It’s currently limited to Messenger and isn’t allow to touch your personal data, for now at least. For some reason, we are absolutely sure that Facebook is going to mess this up in the not-so-distant future.
Before you get all excited about M, do know that it’s just got a modest amount of users at the moment, and can take a while to scale up, provided it proves its mettle.
