Snapdragon 820, slated for a 2016 release, will be the first processor to come with such a feature.
Qualcomm has come up with Smart Protect anti-malware technology to identify and analyze malware in the smartphones before they damage the device. This anti-malware feature will be making its debut on Snapdragon 820 processor, which will expected to be launched in 2016.
Smart Protect uses machine learning behavioral analysis to observe the behavior of different apps running on the device. This makes it easy to pinpoint the malicious apps. It also classifies these apps on the basis of the level of threat they are offering, from destructive applications and spyware to annoying adware.
According to Asaf Ashkenazi, Director Qualcomm product management team, Smart Protect will give instant notifications to the users about possible threats without draining the device battery.
The conventional anti-malware solutions rely on list of possible threats for detecting the malware whereas Smart Protect monitor’s device activity to make users aware of possible threats.
Qualcomm Technologies claims that it is already collaborating with several security firms including AVG and Avast to integrate Smart Protect with their products so that maximum number of people can get benefit from this technology.
