Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Review

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+: The Bigger the Better, Right?

Samsung has received a lot of criticism over the years due to lack of innovation in their designs. The tech giant finally listened to its critics and came up with two of the best looking smartphones of 2015, Samsung S6 and Samsung S6 Edge. Now to improve on the S6 Edge version, Samsung came up with S6 Edge+. Most of its features are the same as S6 Edge, but its display size is relatively bigger and battery timing has also been extended. Let’s take a deeper look at what more the new offering from Samsung brings to the table in our Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus review.

Design

Design is by far the best thing you will find in S6 Edge+. It’s not that much different from S6 Edge, which is not a bad thing by any means. An amazing design with glass and metal combination gives users an amazing feeling when held in hands. However, the 5.7-inch display might bother some folks who are not too comfortable with the larger screens.

Software

Being one of the latest offerings from Samsung, S6 Edge+ comes with Android Lollipop, the latest version of Google’s OS to date. This means that all the features and changes that were brought in with the latest Android come pre-installed in S6 Edge+. TouchWiz interface enhances everything on the phone, and makes regular Samsung users feel right at home.

Performance

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes equipped with Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and Quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57, along with 4GB of RAM. These extreme specifications assure that the users get high-end experience from the device. Everything runs smoothly without any trouble, including resource-heavy video games.

Display

As mentioned above, S6 Edge+ has a slightly larger screen, i.e. 5.7 inch, than its predecessor, but the overall feel is more or less the same. You will still see information stream that will show all the recent notifications. Furthermore, there’s edge lighting feature that shows a colorful display whenever you are receiving a call. All in all, the display looks great, the images and videos work fine, and everything looks remarkable.

Camera

The rear camera in Galaxy S6 Edge+ is 16 megapixels, and it works the same as S6 Edge’s camera, which is hardly a disappointment. It comes with the optical image stabilization (OIS) feature that allows users to take stable images even at places where the terrain is unstable. Quad HD AMOLED display puts icing on the cake as it really enhances the overall experience of the users. Every picture taken from the phone pops out and looks extraordinary.

Battery

Galaxy S6 Edge+ packs a 3000mAh battery that lasts easily for a day. Occasionally it didn’t last as long as expected, but its overall performance is incredible. To make it last even more, there are ‘battery saving apps’ which will close all the unwanted applications, thus saving users a lot of battery to work with.

Storage

Galaxy S6 Edge+ is available in two sizes – 32GB and 64GB. You have to choose one of these sizes and stick with them until you move on to the new phones because the phone doesn’t have SD card support.

Connectivity

Being one of the modern devices, S6 Edge+ packs all the standard connectivity features that you expect, including Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, USB, and more.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is a great new addition to the family, but it boasts more or less the same features that were present in the S6 Edge. So only go for it if you are looking for a bigger screen and better battery timings.
