Interested users can now download the application without having to fill a form or wait for an invite.
Skype Translator preview, which was only available to limited users since the launch of its beta version in December 2014, is finally available for everyone, with Microsoft removing the sign-up requirement.
The application can be downloaded from Windows Store on devices running Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 preview.
For the time being, Skype Translator offer audio translation in only four spoken languages, namely English, Mandarin, Italian and Spanish, though the list is likely to grow in the coming months.
Skype Translator is a nifty application that closely listens to the speaker, translates the communication into the specified language, and delivers the audio to the recipient, all within a matter of seconds.
This app also works for Skype text messages, in which case it offers translation in 50 different languages. For instance, if you are an English speaker and the receiver only understands Spanish, then everything you type will be translated and typed into Spanish within just a few seconds.
It seems that acquisition of Skype by Microsoft wasn’t so bad for users after all.
