Twitter's Favorite Button is Gone, Like Button Introduced

Twitter Replaces Favorite with Like Button

The functionality remains the same, though the new icon certainly provides a nice new touch.

The ‘Favorite’ button on Twitter has now been replaced by the new ‘Like’ button, with the latter coming with its own icon – a heart.

The inspiration for the Like button must have come from Facebook, which is without a shadow of doubt the most popular social networking platform available at the moment. People have got accustomed to liking posts on Facebook, so they won’t have any trouble getting used to the new button on Twitter either.

Akarshan Kumar, the product manager at Twitter, stated that the Like button has been incorporated to make the usage of their platform more convenient.

“We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers. You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite.”

The Like button seems like a nice change and we have to agree with Kumar here, as there are certain things that we like a lot, but they’re not exactly our favorite. Due to this reason, the new ‘Like’ button is likely to fit in quite easily into the platform.
