Virtual Reality is Indeed the Future of Gaming

Sony, Oculus, and other major brands have been working on virtual reality devices for quite some time now. The focus on VR is because a lot of people have come to believe that it is the future of gaming. Some animated shows like Log Horizon and Sword Art Online have helped this notion as well. Both of these anime show people trapped in a game that was created for virtual reality devices. Gamers are now hoping that developers in the real world will be able to bring that anime experience to life and create a game that will allow players to actually live in their fantasy worlds. With so many major brands working on a virtual reality device, there’s no questioning the fact that this tech is indeed the future of gaming. Let’s take a look at some of the VR devices coming slated for a next year arrival.

PlayStation VR

Previously known as Project Morpheus, Sony’s VR device has been in production for quite some time now. After all the time in development, Sony claims that it has managed to perfect it in almost every aspect. The company has also given their virtual device an official name, as now it’s called PlayStation VR. This simple name change did not sit well with a large number of fans, but when you look at it from Sony’s perspective, this name makes perfect sense. PlayStation has been their biggest selling brand and a lot of people know about Sony because of it. By adding PlayStation name to their virtual reality device, Sony will certainly be able to attract more people, and will be able to make it a part of their gaming family with ease. PlayStation VR has a lot of potential, and Sony would certainly like to leave its mark in the virtual reality industry as well. President of Sony Worldwide Studio Shuhei Yoshida believes that VR will be an ultimate weapon for the developers.

“Every game developer tries to create something new, amazing, and innovative to wow people. Using VR tech, it’s so easy, it’s almost unfair. It’s like an ultimate weapon. I think it’s going to be a hugely powerful weapon for game developers to create new and exciting experiences for consumers.”

Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift has been in the news a lot recently, and it’s because it will be the first major VR device to make its way to the market. It is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2016 with a handful of games. Previous VR devices weren’t able to make their presence felt, but Oculus Rift has been making headlines worldwide and the people who tried it only had nice things to say about it. It seems to be on the right track and a lot of people have shown their interest in it. The team behind this VR device has been working day in and day out to make it the best possible virtual reality machine there is, and the best part is that we won’t have to wait for too long to find out if they succeed in their endeavor.

As of now, both of these VR headsets are the talk of the town. Although Microsoft has revealed its VR device called HoloLens, it doesn’t focus too much on gaming. It’s meant to create unique experiences through users’ imagination. There are some other pretty interesting virtual reality headsets in work as well, but which one of them will be able to leave a mark is yet to be seen. Here’s hoping that Oculus Rift starts a VR tradition that is followed up by PlayStation VR, and both of them deliver the VR experience that we have been craving since a long time now.
