A plenty of virtual reality consoles have made their way to the market in the last few years, but they were rather new and weren’t able to deliver on their promises. However, things have started to improve lately as more and more games are being created for the VR. A lot of people are predicting that it’s the future of gaming, and with the way things are going, it wouldn’t be least bit surprising to see all console manufacturers opting to include VR mode in their upcoming video game consoles.
What is VR
People are engrossed by new technology and virtual reality is one of the best new technologies to come into being. It transfers users into another world where they would assume the role of the main character. So instead of playing as some character, you are the protagonist and everything that’s happening in the game, is happening to you. Horror and mystery games are absolutely amazing when played with VR and more and more developers are finding different ways to integrate other genres into Virtual Reality.
How Does it Work?
VR basically tricks your mind into thinking that you are in another place altogether. This is the reason people feel dizzy if they spend a lot of time using VR. You wear the headset, get transferred into the new world, and then assume the control of a protagonist. You will have a controller in your hand which serves as your weapon or your hand depending on the game. In mystery/investigative games, you controller will be your hand and everything you encounter in the game’s world, you can touch and interact with your hands. This adds a more immersive feeling and makes the experience worthwhile. PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Samsung VR are all great machines, but at this point, PSVR is the one getting the most software. So if gaming is your main concern, you should be going after PSVR.
Why is it so Popular?
The ability of VR machines to transfer people into another world has made them popular. Although not a lot of games are available for the platform right now, but the ones that have been released, are fantastic. Resident Evil 7 is the biggest example – it delivers horror with perfection. Instead of playing a role of a character, you become the main character and have to go through all the hardships yourself. It is not easy by any means and only a limited number of people have been able to fully experience it. Others gave up pretty early because the sense of tension that the VR creates is not for the fainthearted.
With more experiences in different genres on the way, people are getting psyched about possibilities of VR. Another reason why VR machines are flying off the shelves lately is because of their cheaper price. They cost a ton in the beginning, but now their price is lowered and people are lining up to get their hands on them. The demand is higher than ever, and VR will have games to keep its owners entertained for a long time.
