In an effort to focus more on the popular mobile platforms, WhatsApp has announced that it will discontinue supporting a handful of Nokia and BlackBerry devices running on older operating systems by the end of 2016.
The devices to get dropped include BlackBerry 10, Nokia Symbian S60, Windows Phone 7.1 and Nokia S40. In addition, devices running on Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 will also lose support for the popular messaging app.
In an official blog post, the Facebook-owned company mentioned that it was a tough but right decision. The seven years old company claims that the aforementioned devices lack the features needed for proper functioning of the app in the future.
People using these devices still have a few more months to switch to devices running on relatively newer operating systems.
