The leaders of the artificial intelligence startup are well-known for their work, and are likely to prove to be a great asset for Apple.
Now that Apple has established itself in multiple markets, it has started to feel confident and is looking to spread its wings even further. Today, the tech giant confirmed that it has acquired Perceptio, a machine learning company that uses artificial intelligence to classify images on smartphones.
The leaders of Perceptio, Nicolas Pinto and Zak Stone have been working on AI for quite some time and they specialize in image recognition systems. This system has become a reason for their existence and they will continue on to work on it, but now under a new leadership.
No specific details on the acquisition have been provided just yet, but one of the spokesperson for Apple stated: “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”
iPhones and iPads are loaded with some amazing features and Apple would certainly be hoping to add this new AI technology into their gadgets as well. It’s a nice feature to have in the phones, as it would auto-sort the images, saving users a whole lot of trouble and time.
